United Hunters Association of Nigeria Collaborating With The Nigeria Police
An association of hunters, United Hunters Association of Nigeria, is collaborating with the Nigeria Police in the FCT and in Nasarawa State

Mr Adamu Tanimu, the association's Chairman, disclosed this on Wednesday in Abuja in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).

He said last year, members of the association arrested more than 200 environmental offenders, thieves, hoodlums and handed them over to the police for prosecution.

Tanimu said the association was established to protect the environment from indiscriminate bush burning, illegal felling of trees and other activities that degrade the environment.

He said the association, with its headquarters in Zaria, Kaduna State, was registered with the police.

Tanimu said the association has a team that patrols the forest in the FCT and Nasarawa State in order to track down people engaged in indiscriminate bush burning or illegal felling of trees.

He said members of the association also monitor the forest and apprehend thieves and hoodlum, who have their hideouts in the forests.

The chairman said the activities of the association had provided jobs for more than 1,000 youths in the FCT and in Nasarawa State.
