Actress Yvonne Nelson seems bent on proving she is not a pushover as she is gradually becoming the hottest actress in Ghana, especially after her one year controversial ban.
Not long ago, she was rated as the most sought-after actress in Nollywood but back home, her critics started spreading reports that Yvonne can only play romantic roles.
In what seems to be a rebuttal to that criticism, Yvonne has delivered her best performance ever in an all-stars hilarious movie titled ‘Wanna Be’. She said the movie is her 55th Independent anniversary gift to her fans and Ghanaians in general.
True to her words, the movie would be premiered at the National Theatre in Accra on 6th March, Ghana’s 55th Independence anniversary.
Nelson, together with other stars in the movie- Prince David Osei, Eddie Nartey, Zynell Zuh, Nana Akua and a host of others, will be at the National Theatre during the premiere to interact with their fans, sign autographs and pose for photo shots.
Yvonne will also use the event to give her fans an opportunity to see for themselves that she does not wear fake designer wear as speculated by some bloggers and spread on BlackBerry.
‘Wanna Be’ is a rib-cracking comedy directed by Pascal Amanfo. The movie tells the true-life story of a lower class lady who wanted to belong to the class of the elite in society and therefore painfully lived a life far expensive than what she could afford.
Reports said the script was written based on the life story of a well-known Ghanaian female hip-life artiste who recently topped headlines because of what she wore or failed to wear to a musical concert.
In a chat with one of the characters in the movie, Nana Akua Addo, she noted that when she had the script of ‘Wanna Be’, it was the comic style of it that got her into accepting to be part plus it had Pascal Amanfo as a director.
“Wanna be” is strictly a comedy movie; it tells an everyday story of a lady who wanted to belong to the class of the elite in society by doing what they do and acting like them”.
A little review of the movie was made by Nana Akua Addo with the aim of giving people a fair idea of what they should expect come the 6th of March at the national theater and she said: ‘Wanna be is a true life story about a young lady who was a cornice layer, she just could not say a sentence without lying but she always wanted to "belong" some way or the other.
Kate and Caroline (her friends) did not know as to what or who their friend Lieana really is, but faith they say catches up with those who ‘wanna be’ as it played Lieana to her own game.’
She maintained: ‘These three friends, Kate, Liena and caroline had too many skeleton in their cupboards and that is how this comedy movie will make you cry in laughter.
